European Alliance for Sport and Mental Health

Sport and Mental Health

EASMH is the first European network which includes mental health professionals and sport professionals in order to develop new sport-based integrated recovery models, for the rehabilitation of people with mental disorders under a biopsychosocial framework.

EASMH is the first European network which includes mental health professionals and sport professionals in order to develop new sport-based integrated recovery models, for the rehabilitation of people with mental disorders under a biopsychosocial framework.

The Network would be a digital place to share information, knowledge and best practices on Sport and Mental Health and would provide training tools, promote studies and research to improve the skills and the action of the people involved.

The network in open also to Sport Organization and Mental Health services to build up cooperation partnership for several European and International funding program such as ERASMUS+, HORIZON, HEALTY LIFESTYLE4 ALL etc.

The hope is to overcome the vision of sport and physical activity as a simple element of social inclusion, looking at a broader and evidence-based perspective to ensure that sport-based rehabilitation programs are methodologically structured, and include evaluation tools validated in a way to obtain results that are recognized and shared throughout the sports and scientific communities.

Why a European Alliance?

EASMH creates synergies between sport and mental health professionals

The project is aimed at increasing the participation in sport of people with mental health problems, in different stages and clinical conditions, and in different EU countries through the promotion – in a proper, stable and organised way – of structured PA programs for the prevention, treatment and rehabilitation of mental disorders. The project is based on awareness-raising activities focused on the added value of sport and physical activity in psychiatry and on activities that promote innovative synergies between sport organisations and health sector.
